Each year the American Geophysical Union Hydrology Days meeting brings together water scientists, researchers and students to discuss the current state of the science and latest water-related research findings. The 39th annual meeting (March 27-29, 2019) at Colorado State University (CSU) featured a student showcase where student presentations were juried by University faculty in a competition to recognize their contributions to the research community. Over 80 student papers were presented over the three-day event and the top award winning research is featured in a special edition of Colorado Water . Congratulations to all our student researchers and the 2019 awardees – we look forward to seeing you again in 2020 and all you will achieve as your careers in water resources progress! Colorado Water is a publication of the Colorado Water Center. The newsletter is devoted to highlighting water research and activities at CSU and throughout Colorado. This special issue also features articles documenting the history of Hydrology Days and the CSU Programs of Research and Scholarly Excellence: “Water Science and Engineering for Global Solutions” and the “Water Information Systems of Education and Research”. In addition, the periodical provides Keynote Speaker summaries and an event overview. Download Hydrology Days Special Issue HERE! The Annual American Geophysical Union Hydrology Days meeting provides a unique opportunity for students, faculty, staff and practitioners to engage in wide range of water-related interdisciplinary research topics. The spring meeting promises to expand our attendance beyond engineering and hydrology by engaging colleges across campus to holistically represent the far-reaching facets of water. The organizing committee includes representatives from the Colleges of Engineering, Natural Resources, Agricultural Science, Liberal Arts, History and, the School of Global Environmental Sustainability (SoGES) as well as the USDA Agricultural Research Service. We recently turned the spotlight on students across campus to broaden our understanding of the interconnections of water and linked systems. The Student Showcase provides an avenue for students to exchange ideas, present their research findings and refine their science communication skills. This year we are excited to announce the Student Showcase will feature a Three Minute Thesis (3MT) & Poster Competition! The top scoring competitors will receive cash awards and select students will be invited to contribute to a special issue of Colorado Water ! Students interested in entering the student competition must adhere to posted deadlines, register and submit an abstract to confirm their participation. Faculty, staff, practitioners and industry representatives are encouraged to attend the event and learn just how poised our students are to enter the workforce – take this opportunity to enhance the student experience and invest in the future! Any attendee sponsoring student registration will receive a discount. Learn more about this exciting opportunity by visiting the registration page .
