Peters-Lidard Borland Award Keynote Speakers (2024) Each year at the Hydrology Days meeting the Hydrology Days Award is presented in recognition of outstanding and significant contributions to hydrologic science. We also honor a Borland lectures, either in hydrology or hydraulics. We are excited to announce the Hydrology Days keynote speakers! Hydrology Days Award: Martha Anderson Research Physical Scientist, USDA Agricultural Research Center, Hydrology and Remote Sensing Laboratory April 16th, 2024 at 1 PM Borland Lecture: Christa D. Peters-Lidard Director in Sciences and Exploration Directorate, National Aeronautics and Space Administration April 17th, 2024 at 1 PM The Annual American Geophysical Union (AGU) Hydrology Days meeting provides a unique opportunity for students, faculty, and practitioners to engage in a wide range of water-related interdisciplinary research topics. This event is hosted by the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department and One Water Solutions Institute at Colorado State University with support from the Colorado Water Center, USDA Agricultural Research Services, and University colleagues from the departments of Environmental Science and Sustainability, Geosciences, History, Soil and Crop Sciences, Agricultural and Resource Economics, Political Science and the Center for Environmental Justice. We encourage presentations from a wide variety of sessions designed to highlight the interconnections of water and linked systems. The Student Showcase will provide an opportunity for students to exchange ideas, present their research findings and refine their science communication skills. Students interested in entering the student competition must adhere to posted deadlines, register and submit an abstract to confirm their participation. Faculty, staff, practitioners and industry representatives are encouraged to attend the event and learn just how poised our students are to enter the workforce – take this opportunity to enhance the student experience and invest in the future! The spring meeting endeavors to expand our attendance beyond engineering and hydrology by engaging colleges across campus to holistically represent the far-reaching facets of water. Hydrologic Systems Urban Water Systems Ecosystem Services Water for Food Energy-Water Nexus Conservation & Reuse River Basin Planning & Management Global Environmental Change 2023 Hydrology Days Proceedings Each year the American Geophysical Union Hydrology Days meeting brings together water scientists, researchers and students to discuss the current state of the science and latest water-related research findings. We extend our gratitude to all AGU Hydrology Days participants – the value of in-person learning should not be underestimated and this 40+ year old CSU legacy provides an important opportunity for exchange of research ideas, meaningful conversations and connections. Over 110 participants, representing 15 organizations, attended the 2-day conference at Colorado State University. With nearly 70 research presentations from 18 PhD students, 19 Masters, 8 Undergraduates and 17 faculty, staff, or external researchers, this was another truly impressive event. The 2023 Hydrology Days proceedings for the event have also been published. We also thank our outstanding, world-renowned Keynote Speakers who were honored at the event: Dr. Hoshin V. Gupta (Borland Hydrology Award), Dr. Mary C. Hill (AGU Hydrology Days Award), and Dr. Fred L. Ogden (Borland Hydraulics Award). We were deeply moved by the heartful presentations during the special session in remembrance of Drs. Hubert Morel-Seytoux, Ignacio Rodriguez-Iturbe and Jorge Ramirez.
